At 3:54 p.m., radar showed pockets of heavy showers between Kawaihae and Honaunau on the island’s leeward side. The showers are expected to diminish later Sunday afternoon.
Forecasters included the following areas in the advisory: Waikoloa Village, Puako, Keauhou and Captain Cook.
The public is advised to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will cause hazardous driving conditions because of ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
